Antoni Rayzhekov

Antoni Rayzhekov joined as a Research Follow at Center for Human-Computer Interaction, University of Salzburg, in March 2021. Antoni studied theater directing (MA) and performing (BA) in Sofia, Bulgaria at the National Theater and Film Academy, Jazz Music Improvisation at Vienna Konservatorium and Informational Technologies as a vocational training at LearningTree, London. Antoni is a conceptual media artist, researcher and educator interested in sound, body, and form as interconnected systems of meaning. He works in the intersections between science and art, in the context of sound and visual art, performance, computational art, and the use of empirical data and theory. Over the past 17 years he has created numerous experiments with audio-visual installations, interactive objects, body, and lecture-performances, often including actively the audience. 

Since 2011, he is an associate lecturer in Interactive and then Experimental Media at the department of Media and Digital Technologies at the University for Applied Sciences in St.Pölten (Austria) and since 2016 a guest lecturer in Digital Arts at the National Art Academy – Sofia. In 2019, he co-founded DALAB Foundation Bulgaria, and in 2008 he co-founded the Viennese new media label THIS.PLAY, where he worked until 2013.

Antoni was artist in residence at FERALabs (201 9) – Subnet Salzburg & Schmiede, a fellow of Wimmelforschung (Berlin) at Platform1 2 (201 8) – an artist in residence program by Wimmelforschung, Bosch Research Center and Akademie Schloss Solitude – Stuttgart, Atelier Arts Sciences – Grenoble France (2017) , a fellow (2016/2017) at Akademie Schloss Solitude – Stuttgart, Akademie Hallein (2014), S.T.E.I.M (2013) and DansMakers (201 3) – Amsterdam, among others.
