Irina joined the Center for Human-Computer Interaction as a Research Fellow in July 2018. She holds an MSc in Regional and Urban Planning Studies from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor Degree in Communication Sciences from the University of Bucharest. Her research focuses on the crossroads between immersive technology and urban interaction design. Specifically, her doctoral research explores placemaking through urban augmentation and enhancing affective connection to place through AR/MR in present and future cities. Prior to joining the Center, Irina was involved in urban policy and innovation, supporting local and regional authorities in Romania in sustainable urban planning. A self-starter at heart, she also co-founded a think tank and is currently developing business strategies for a startup in AR/VR and game design.
