DiMo-NEXT (Digital Motion in Sports, Fitness and Well-being) is a COMET research project coordinated by Salzburg Research Forschungsgesellschaft. The project brings together 26 academic and industry partners across six countries to advance human-centred digital motion systems for sports, fitness, health and well-being.
Within DiMo-NEXT, the Center for Human-Computer Interaction contributes to the research area “Human Motion Behaviour & User Experience” with a particular focus on embodied interaction and movement-centred user experience. The research investigates how digital systems can support interaction during physical activity without interrupting or distracting from movement itself.
As part of the project, the Center for HCI is developing an interactive toolkit for movement sonification, including modular systems for real-time and recorded motion data exploration. The work addresses questions of interaction design, sonification intent, embodied user experience and toolkit accessibility for real-world movement contexts.
Duration: 1.4.2024 to 31.3.2028
